Journalistic activity by its very nature leads us to the uncovering of new subjects andnew values in its constant pursuit for news. In the exercise of this most exciting activity many are those that cross our paths. Some more interesting than others, but each one a life lesson for those meet them, for those of us who come to share something of themselves, something about life, which is the common denominator for all mankind.

Just recently, on one of my incursions into the western regions of Canada, where the presence of the Portuguese has also left its unique mark, I had occasion to meet a young luso-canadian, Frederick Carreira, whose his iron will and indomitable spirit made such an indelible impression on me that I wish to share it with you.

The son of Portuguese immigrant parents, Frederick was born in Blois, France, but soon, at an early age, came to settle in Canada, where he currenty resides in the city of Vancouver. In his infant years he came to develop a "passion" for automobiles, dreaming that some day he would follow a career in the automobile industry. Aware that in order to do this he would have to finish high school and later a technical course, he faced all the obstacles and difficulties that came his way and has recently completed the Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing Program at Vancouver Community College. Presently aged 20, he is now a fully-fledged Automotive Refinishing Technician.

In July 2002, he was featured in an article on young career people in the BC Business Magazine, where he was pointed out as an example to be followed. Music - namely, playing the keyboard, soccer and cinema occupy most of his leisure time. Frederick is a good lad, unmarried, and available!

Adiaspora.com wishes this young, dynamic man all the success in the world in his career and in his personal life.
