DISCURSO DO COMANDANTE ROBERT PICHÉ

SPEECH BY CAPT. ROBERT PICHÉ

…First officer De Jager, the Flight Director, Mrs. Tesics, the flight attendants, three of which were Portuguese natives. Thank you very much for the great work they did because without them I don’t think I would not have been able to pull it off. I can assure you of one thing that God was with us that night. Maybe it was because we were at 39 000 ft. and closer to him! And He gave us a hand. But I can tell you we were very lucky. The 304 people involved in that accident, we were supposed to die that night but chance and luck were on our side and allowed us to make that landing. So thank you very much for everything, especially to those passengers here. They were great too. The passengers were great. They did what they had to do. Most of them started praying. I heard that they were praying in the back. And that did help. So thank you very much again for your invitation.
